Frozen Matcha Margarita
This is my new summer favorite. A simple blended margarita with Firepot Amai (sweet) matcha simple syrup which adds a creamy mouthfeel and gives you a focused, calm mindset– to enhance the effects of the tequila!
Makes: one drink
Time: 10 minutes
.75 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1.5 ounces tequila
.5 ounces orange liqueur
.5 ounces matcha simple syrup (mix equal parts sweet match mix like Firepot Amai Matcha with hot water and stir to dissolve)
1 cup ice
Serve in a salt rimed glass and garnish with a lime wedge or a slice of jalapeño.
I love a negroni, but usually need to draw it out a bit. This recipe does that with earl grey ice cubes and a generous pour of grapefruit infused sparkling water. The bergamot (bittersweet citrus from Southern Italy) oil in the earl grey, sings with similar notes in the Campari!
Makes: 1 drink
Time: 10 minuts (plus 4 hours to freeze ice cubes)
Steep an Earl Grey black tea like Firepot Italian Grey to double strength (half the amount of water or double the amount of tea) and freeze in ice molds.
1 part Campari
1 part gin
3 parts sparkling grapefruit water like this one from Spindrift
Combine and pour over earl grey ice
If you look at my Instagram feed, you know Ive been mesmerized by blue butterfly peas lately… They steep with a mellow flavor and a bright blue infusion. When you add citrus, it lowers the pH, making the blue turn to purple. This is an easy refreshing iced tea with or without vodka!
Makes: 10-12 drinks
Remove iced tea pouch and strain out blue butterfly pea flowers.
Add 3/4 cup sugar and stir to dissolve
Add 4 cups of ice water, 3/4 cup lemon juice and 1.75 cups vodka
Garnish with sliced lemon rounds and serve over ice.
