These crunchy little crackle cookies from the Maghreb are typically served with sweet mint tea. I made 100 of them for a Moroccan tea sweets bar last weekend and they were gobbled up in less than an hour.
Takes 25 minutes
Makes: 3 dozen little cookies
You will need:
1 cup of butter
1 cup of sugar
2 cups of all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt ( I like Maldon sea salt for these)
2 teaspoons turmeric powder
1 teaspoon black pepper, ground
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F
Creme butter and sugar together
Add flour, salt and spices.
Drop 1 teaspoon of dough (1 inch in diameter) onto a cookie sheet with an inch between cookies
Press your thumb or finger into the top of each cookie to flatten slightly
Bake for 10 minutes
