Cascara, which means “husk” in Spanish, is the skin of the coffee cherry. Once the bean is removed, the husk is dried into a sweet and full-bodied tisane that is high in antioxidants and low in caffeine.
Ever since ordering cascara last summer at Starbucks only to find out that it was actually just cold brewed (strong!) coffee with a cascara syrup on top (false advertising!!), I have had it in my mind to make a strong, cold brewed *REAL* cascara and serve it at the Nashville Tea Bar…
Our Cascara Cold Brew is made from micro lots of super ripe Pacamara coffee beans hand picked at small farms in Nicaragua. The cherries are harvested at the peak of ripeness, dried for months and hand sorted, piece by piece, until they are perfect!
Not your typical bitter cascara or cold brewed coffee with cascara flavored syrup, ours is a clean, very sweet and super smooth experience with notes of apricot, strawberry, peach and honey! Taste it—you will swear that it has been sweetened with honey!
Especially sweet is that this rare and exquisite cascara supports sustainable development, education and an improved quality of life for the communities in Nicaragua that produce it for us!
