Since I was a little girl, I have been obsessed with making things from plants: perfume from rose petals, airplanes from pine needles and endless culinary concoctions. Growing up with family in both Finland and the United States, I was exposed to the joys of travel and global cultures at a young age.
In 2001, I made the first batch of Firepot Chai, at the Tibetan Teahouse in Bozeman, Montana… A door was opened into the alluring world of tea and I have never looked back. Tea has captivated my mind and dominated my cooking, work and travels ever since.
With two little boys at home, my nomadic lifestyle is temporarily on hold. I have traded tipis and yurts for a house in the wooded hills of Nashville, but I still usually have a pot of tea steeping and am dreaming of my next tea adventure!
